Mahindra & Mahindra is one of the best automobile companies in the world. It is the part of Indian Industrial Corporation and established in 1945 at Ludhiana. Firstly, the company was setup as Mahindra & Mohammad by Mahindra brothers K C Mahindra and J C Mahindra along with the Malik Ghulam Mohammad. After the partition of Pakistan, Malik Ghulam Mohammad moved to Pakistan and he became the first finance minister. Then the company has changed name as Mahindra & Mahindra in 1948.
M & M has four manufacturing plants. Out of them three are located in Maharashtra and one in Andhra Pradesh. Company's business is divided into four divisions as automotive, tractor, inter trade and MSL. These divisions are handling steel, trading and manufacturing of ash handling plants and traveling water screens. Now the company has seven state-of-art factories and 33 sales offices supported by a network of more than 500 dealers all over country. The company has over 17,000 technical and non-technical employees.
It has developed plants in China and the United Kingdom. In USA, company has three assembly plants. Mahindra & Mahindra has also joints venture with Renault SA, France and International Truck and Engine Corporation, USA.The company is the maker of army vehicle to automobile, tractor and truck. It is one of the leading tractor brands in the world. It is also the largest manufacturer of tractors in India with persistent market leadership of over 25 years with designs, develops, manufactures and markets tractors as well as farm implements.
The company has firstly known for Jeep manufacturing in India. The company later spread up his business to produce tractor and light vehicles. They also entered into the two wheeler sector by taking over the Kinetic Motors of India.
Mahindra & Mahindra has a global presence and its products have exported to several countries. The company has recently entered into a joint venture with Renault, an auto manufacturing company from France. It has called as Mahindra Logan; they have manufacturing Logan's in India. However, the cars have only available from mid 2007. They have also planned to sell somewhere around 50,000 cars in a year.
