Maruti Udyog Suzuki Ltd

Maruti Suzuki Ltd is the leading car manufacturer company in India. It has formerly known as Maruti Udyog Ltd established in February 1981. Company has commenced actual production in 1983 with Maruti 800. The automobile company is subsidiary of Suzuki Motor Corporation of Japan. After the contribution with Suzuki Motor the company has became the largest passenger car manufacturer, accounting for over 50 per cent of the domestic car market. The Maruti Udyog has renamed as Maruti Suzuki Ltd and changed ownership in 17th September 2007. More than half the number of cars sold in India with a Maruti Suzuki badge. Suzuki Motor Corporation is a global leader in mini and compact cars for three decades. Technical superiority of Suzuki lies in its capability to pack power and performance into a solid, lightweight engine that is clean and fuel competent. There are nearly 75,000 employees working in Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.

Maruti Suzuki Ltd has two plants in Gurgaon and Manesar south of Delhi. Maruti Suzuki Gurgaon Plant has to facilitate with 350,000 units manufacturing per anum and Manesar plant has facility to manufacture 100,000 units per year. Diesel Engine has also plant with 100,000 engines. Both Gurgaon and Manesar plant have a combined capability to produce over 700,000 units per year. The Maruti Suzuki Ltd India is the largest automobile company in India having sold above 750,000 cars in the year 2007-2008, of which only 53,000 were exported.

Maruti Udyog delivers a variety of passenger vehicles as compact cars to luxury cars. It has many product variety includes Maruti 800, Omni, Maruti Zen, Estillo, Alto, Wagon R, Gypsy, Esteem, Baleno, Versa, Swift and Grand Vitara XL7. Maruti has also introduced advanced versions of Wagon R, Zen and Esteem with the object of becoming R&D hub for Suzuki Motor Corporation. At present time Maruti has 55 % share of market and planned to invest 6500 crores.
